Job Description Summary

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout South Carolina.

The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a patient-centered approach to care and assists in examination and treatment of patients under the physician's supervision.

Job Responsibilities

1. Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in medical records.
2. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
3. Perform basic computer tasks and maintain annual competencies.
4. Understand and execute detailed instructions for therapeutic procedures.
5. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assisting program preferred with one year of patient care experience.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA, NAHP, or equivalent; current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
