UNC Health Care System is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to join the Benign Hematology clinic in Chapel Hill. You will support providers in a busy outpatient setting, perform rooming, vitals, phlebotomy, medication administration, tests, and patient education as part of a collaborative care team.

The role requires a CMA certification and BLS, with at least one year of relevant experience. This onsite position offers a stable schedule and standard full‑time hours.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Certification as Medical Assistant (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA) is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• At least one year of full-time Medical Assistant, Certified experience.

Responsabilités

• Perform rooming and intake, collecting vitals and visit data.
• Collect medical and social history from patients.
• Review medications and allergies; coordinate with pharmacy.
• Assist provider during treatments and exams.
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administer medications as directed.
• Conduct tests such as EKG and basic eye exams.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked and ready for procedures.
• Provide post-visit instructions and education to patients.
• Register patients and schedule tests or referrals.
• Answer clinic calls and assist with inbox management.
• Assist in emergencies as directed.
• Precept and train new medical assistants; support clinic safety and quality tasks.
