Job summary

UNC Health Medical Group's UNC Primary Care at Mebane is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under supervision of a provider and clinic manager to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role involves rooming patients, collecting vitals and histories, assisting with procedures, phlebotomy, specimen handling, medication administration, and EMR documentation. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires Medical Assistant certification by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC required.
• CAAHEP/ABHES-accredited MA program preferred but not required.
• At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team and document in EMR.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake including vital signs and reason for visit.
• Collects patient and family data including medical and social history.
• Reviews current medications, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assists provider during treatments, exams, and procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under provider direction.
• Ensures exam/procedure rooms are stocked and ready.
• Provides post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Prepares and sterilizes instruments; maintains supplies.
