Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod in Massachusetts is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for General Surgery in Falmouth. This part-time role supports the MACC practice under a supervising provider, handling patient flow, vitals, EMR entries, and exam room preparation.

You will float to other MACC offices as needed, assist with procedures, and support front-office tasks. The position offers equity within a busy team and a hourly pay range of $24.40 to $29.71.

Qualifications

  • Must have MA certification (AAMA or NHA).
  • Completion of a post-secondary medical assisting program.
  • BLS certification for Health Care Providers.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Experience with EMR and MS Office.

Certified Medical Assistant, General Surgery (Falmouth) (260828-50023852)

Purpose of Position

Under the direction of the supervising provider to provide the highest standards of support to the MACC practice. Delivers excellent customer service to patients through participation in a medical care team. Demonstrates a high level of competence with support in accordance with MACC’s policies and procedures.

Description
  • Assists in providing clinical care to office patients as delegated by supervising provider
  • Manages provider’s daily schedule and patient flow to expedite care and maximize clinical time
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms, and checks two-patient identifiers
  • Communicates status of delegated task completion to supervising provider
  • Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs as indicated (i.e. height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation)
  • Inputs pertinent clinical information into the electronic health record timely and with accuracy and collects home medication lists
  • Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department. Keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information pertaining to the patient’s visit
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms for patient arrivals. Clean and/or maintain inventory of supplies (medical included) and equipment throughout the practice. Notifies supervisor to order clinical supplies, clinical equipment and pharmaceuticals as appropriate
  • Under the supervision of a provider, administers routine injections when delegated, and documents in real time and with accuracy
  • Participates in practice and department meetings, trainings, etc. to promote continuous improvement of quality patient care
  • Takes initiative to learn, understand, and stay current with community resources and the greater healthcare system
  • Maintains patient rights and abides by all confidentiality obligations pursuant to CCHC and HIPAA
  • Provides clerical/office support as necessary (i.e. scheduling appointments, greeting and registering patients, scanning incoming medical records and paperwork, preparing medical records, answering phone calls and taking messages, faxing, etc.)
  • Ability to float to other MACC practices when required
  • Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested
Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Medical Assistant - Certification from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)
  • Completion of a post-secondary medical assisting program required for PCP Office (Preferred for Specialty Office)
  • Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills
  • Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred

20 Hours Per Week, Monday-Friday, No Weekends and No Holidays
