Job summary

University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide excellent patient service and support both administrative and clinical tasks under the supervision of a licensed physician and Office Manager.

Responsibilities include directing messages, scheduling, patient registration, data entry into the electronic medical record, basic lab procedures, venipuncture, and assisting with routine medications.

Qualifications

• 1 year Medical assistant preferred.
• 2 years Clerical/customer service experience - ideally in a health care related industry preferred.
• 1 year experience with third party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and provides excellent customer service.
• Receives and directs messages to appropriate personnel, and coordinates with departments and physicians.
• Maintains patient scheduling functions and sets appointments per guidelines.
• Interviews and completes patient registration for the specific service.
• Enters patient dispositions, codes, orders, charges and payments in the EMR.
• Performs cashiering related to co-payments and patient payments.
• Performs venipuncture and administers routine medications under physician supervision.
• Collects routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Performs basic lab procedures including taking vital signs.
