Job summary

Sentara Health's Medical Group in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join a Float Pool serving Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. Primary duties include patient care and flexible support across sites with travel as needed.

Must hold CMA/CCMA/RMA or EMT-Basic, with at least 1 year of clinical or administrative experience. Travel, shift flexibility, and a competitive benefits package are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Active CMA, CCMA, RMA, or NREMT-Basic is required.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under supervision of the Physician, NP/PA, RN, or LPN.
• Assist with procedures and maintain patient flow and documentation.
• Travel to support staffing requests across Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake.

Overview:

Sentara Medical Group is currently offering a Sign on Bonus to Qualified Medical Assistants!

Must be either a CMA, CCMA, RMA, or EMT-Basic.

This is a full‑time Float Pool position. Primary work is in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, & Chesapeake. Travel to other areas required based on staffing requests.

Standard Working Hours: Monday through Friday-8,10, or 12‑hour shifts

Differential pay is provided for the travel and flexibility that is needed for this role.

Overview

Perform patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Active CMA, CCMA, RMA, or NREMT-Basic (Required)
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Experience

• 1 year of clinical or administrative experience
• Phlebotomy experience (Preferred)

We provide market‑competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full‑time employment is $21.69 - $32.14 hourly.Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra‑shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
