Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinics across the MUSC system. You will assist physicians in examinations, take vital signs, prepare rooms, and enter patient data into the medical record with accuracy.

The role requires completing an accredited medical assisting program, state certification, and BLS. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential for delivering patient-centered care and maintaining competency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA as CCMA/CMA/NAHP.
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross) required.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in the medical record.
• Prepares examination rooms for patient visits.
• Demonstrates basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.
• Maintains annual competencies and adheres to detailed exam instructions.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with patients and staff.
