Under the direction of a licensed clinician, the Medical Assistant II (MA II) provides clinical care and clerical support to office/clinic functions. The role includes receiving workplace education and training to assist providers and the healthcare team in patient care.

$3000 sign-on bonus

Major Responsibilities:

1. Escort patients to examination rooms, take and record vital signs such as blood pressures, temperatures, height, weight, etc. Collect and document patient health status, history, and monitor patient progress following standard procedures.
2. Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care (POC) tests according to clinic standards.
3. Prepare, document, and administer non-intravenous injections as directed or required within scope of practice.
4. Assist in performing routine physical examinations or clinical procedures.
5. Review laboratory results, ensuring abnormal findings are promptly communicated to physicians and relevant staff.
6. Provide clear and timely communication to licensed clinicians regarding patient observations and changes. Set up and prepare rooms based on patient care needs. Assist in maintaining and cleaning patient equipment.
7. Ensure instruments and scopes are sterilized and reprocessed per protocol. Operate sterilization systems as needed.
8. Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients following safety standards and proper body mechanics.
9. Follow procedures for patient arrivals and appointment scheduling.
10. Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
11. Maintain office and clinical supplies, manage inventory, and initiate reorders as necessary.
12. Maintain logs, organize medical records, and enter or retrieve data from electronic medical records.
13. Process prescriptions and refills as directed.
14. Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, scheduling, and managing communications per protocol.
15. Collaborate with insurers to verify coverage, eligibility, and obtain prior authorizations for procedures, medications, and tests.
16. Collect co-payments and maintain accurate records.

Position Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association. If not available at hire, must be obtained within 3 months.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.).

Substitutions of education and experience may be considered if they provide equivalent proficiency.
