Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Current/valid CMA certification from an approved certifying board (AAMA/AMT/NCCT/NHA).
  • Current/valid AHA Basic Life Support CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing/medical staff with preliminary assessments, education, and documentation of patient condition.
  • Obtain vital signs and conduct patient screenings during intake.
  • Administer basic tests (EKG, spirometry, pulse oximetry, CLIA, etc.).
  • Inform patients of test preparations and direct to diagnostic areas.
  • Collect specimens by noninvasive methods and venipuncture.
  • Assist with procedures appropriate to experience and training.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and relay information to clinical staff.
  • Transport or accompany patients as directed.
  • Document patient medications for reconciliation by history.
  • Administer injections per protocol.
  • Process and test point-of-care specimens; record lab data.
  • Maintain safe care environments; manage supplies and sterilization.
  • Perform quality control on equipment and clean/ log activities.
  • Schedule appointments, check-in/out, and activate accounts.
  • Assist with office reception and clerical tasks.
  • Collect payments; support improvement initiatives and EHR projects.

Education

High school graduation or equivalent
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support CPR
