Job summary

Duke Health Integrated Practice seeks a Certified Medical Assistant in Chapel Hill, NC to join our healthcare team and provide direct and indirect patient care in the Dawson Hall clinic.

The role includes taking vital signs, documenting encounters, administering medications per protocol, assisting with procedures, and supporting performance improvement initiatives.

Typical hours are day shifts, Monday–Friday, with no weekends, and a $7,500 commitment bonus for qualifying candidates.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred (CAAHEP/ABHES).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake with patients including vital signs and visit information.
• Take telephone messages, document encounters, and inform the provider per clinic protocols.
• Administer medications to patients as ordered or per protocol following the six rights of medication administration.
• Assist providers with procedures (e.g., skin biopsies, excisions, unna boot) and patient education.
• Participate in performance improvement projects and clinic processes.
• Set up for clinical procedures and maintain high-level disinfection and sterilization.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment.
• Float within the clinic to cover needs as delegated by nurse management.

Job Summary:

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
• Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform provider.
• Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
• Assists providers with procedures such as skin biopises, surgical excisions, unna boot placement, patient education
• Participates in performance improvement projects.
• Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection & sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
• Attain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant programaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• BLS required
