Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia UVA Health is seeking Medical Assistants to provide clinical support in an ambulatory setting under the direction of a physician or licensed designee. Duties include patient care, vital signs, specimen collection, and assisting licensed professionals during examinations and procedures.

Additional responsibilities include data collection, rooming, administrative tasks, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: None required.
• Licensure: AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required and MA certifications from a recognized national body (AAMA/AMT/NAHP/ARMA/NHA).

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical intake, vital signs, specimen collection and documentation.
• Provide clinical support to licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
• Assist with administrative tasks: scheduling, forms, and in-basket messaging.
• Maintain supplies, cleanliness, and safety; document charges for services.
• Demonstrate teamwork and professional development; support age-appropriate patient care.
