We are searching for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) TCP Missouri City — someone to gather information, assess, and provide direct care to patients. The role involves working collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to render age-appropriate care.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program OR documentation from the licensing authority confirming that medical assistant/emergency medical technician education is not a requirement for certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, outpatient care tasks, and customer service concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills; ability to operate basic medical equipment
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • One of the following licenses and certifications:
    • CCMA - Cert-Cert Clinical MA (NHA)
    • CMA-AAM - Cert-Cert Medical Assistant (AAMA)
    • CMA-C - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (AMCA)
    • EMT - Emergency Medical Tech (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-A - Advanced EMT (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-B - Emergency Medical Tech-Basic (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-I - Emergency Medical Techn-Interm (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-P - Emergency Medical Tech-Paramedic (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • LIC PAR - Licensed Paramedic (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • NCMA - National Cert Med Assistant (NCCT)
    • NRCMA - National Registered CMA (NAHP)
    • RMA - Registered Medical Assistant (various certifying bodies)

Demonstrates SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families, and coworkers, including acknowledging the customer, identifying oneself, explaining procedures, and thanking the customer.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in collecting patient/family data, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol
  • Accurately collect and document vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit
  • Document medications, allergies, and other relevant information in the electronic health record
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during treatments, examinations, and tests
  • Document all interventions per practice protocol
  • Manage prescription refills and assist during office emergencies
  • Ensure rooms are stocked with supplies and notify management of low inventory
  • Participate in team activities, daily huddles, and staff meetings
  • Follow up on lab results, ER visits, and coordinate patient care
  • Identify eligible patients for the Vaccines for Children program and document accordingly
  • Verify coverage and manage referrals and lab result workflows
