Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant works closely with primary care physicians to deliver excellent patient care, including reviewing health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms. The role involves interacting with patients and performing clinical and non-clinical functions in accordance with HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • Greeting patients and providing excellent customer service
  • Preparing and reviewing patient charts for upcoming visits
  • Measuring vital signs such as pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
  • Performing clerical duties like checking inventory, tracking referrals, and answering phones
  • Troubleshooting and resolving problems promptly
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Medical Assisting Certification (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred upon hire, required within 90 days)
Experience
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred)
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred)
Skills & Abilities
  • Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, and excellent communication
  • Professional interaction with staff and patients
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1+ year of experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant or similar role (preferred)
  • CCMA or CMA certification (required)
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
  • Patient intake, including medical history, medication, allergies, and vital signs
  • Performing clinical procedures such as suture removal, dressing care, or injections
  • Surgery scheduling and pre-operative testing coordination
  • Order entry via electronic medical record
  • Responding to patient communication under provider guidance
  • Adhering to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
