Job Summary

Provides clerical support for the clinic/department, including patient scheduling, filing reports, and following up on documentation, phone calls, and billing inquiries. Graduation from an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program is preferred. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required, certified by one of the following governing bodies: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.

Job Duties
  • Provides direct patient care and clinical support in the outpatient setting.
  • Works as part of the healthcare team under the provider's direction.
  • Performs clinical duties such as preparing patients, collecting information, performing technical tasks, documenting in the electronic medical record, and ensuring patient safety.
  • Supports administrative functions including scheduling, report filing, documentation follow-up, and billing inquiries.
  • Records patient information such as reason for visit, vital signs, medication review, and screening info in the electronic medical record.
  • Prepares examination and treatment rooms.
  • Assists patients in preparing for visits, maintaining safety and privacy.
  • Performs procedures like EKGs, wound dressings, and assists during minor surgeries and examinations, based on competency.
  • Administers medications and completes tests as directed, following policies and after demonstrating competency.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, performs phlebotomy, and assists with lab functions under supervision.
  • Handles clerical duties, including filing reports and documentation in medical records.
  • Uses electronic systems for scheduling and documentation, facilitates appointments, and manages referrals and pre-authorizations.
  • Collects co-payments and assists with staff orientation as needed.
  • Communicates with patients and providers effectively, reinforcing education and responding to inquiries.
  • Inventory management of supplies and medications, ensuring compliance with protocols.
  • Prepares and sterilizes instruments, maintains infection control standards.
  • Participates in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

Work is performed in a clinical environment; travel may be required. The role includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus, contingent on certain conditions. Minimum requirements include graduation from an accredited program, certification, and BLS certification within 6 months.
