About Your Team

Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed community hospital with a modern emergency department, maternity center, women's imaging, and ICU.

Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant

The CMA provides superior patient care, performing clinical and administrative tasks such as:

• Documenting medical history and coding using EMR
• Greeting and preparing patients, taking vital signs, and recording information
• Assisting during examinations and explaining procedures
• Preparing and sterilizing instruments, maintaining inventory
• Handling referrals, insurance authorizations, and specimen collection
• Monitoring refrigerator temperatures for vaccines and medications

Qualifications

Required:

• High School diploma or GED
• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program
• Current CMA or RMA certification
• Basic EMR and Microsoft Office skills

Preferred:

• Associate’s degree
• 1+ years hospital or physician practice experience
