Job description

The Medical Assistant is responsible for delivering clinical support services to patients as directed by the physician. This role includes performing clinical procedures, assisting with patient care, maintaining exam room readiness, and completing associated documentation and administrative tasks in accordance with practice standards and regulatory requirements.

Pay commiserate with experience. Please note, this opening is for our Venice office location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients from waiting area to examination rooms.
  • Review chief complaints and prepare patients for physician examination.
  • Obtain and document vital signs (height and weight at every visit).
  • Perform medication reconciliation at each visit, including dosage and frequency.
  • Ensure smoking status is updated annually.
  • Complete required MIPS measures as selected by the practice.
  • Document relevant cardiac diagnoses (e.g., pacemaker, defibrillator).
  • Initiate and document applicable clinical protocols.
Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice, including:
  • Sterile dressing changes and wound care.
  • Suture and staple removal.
  • Preparation of sterile injections.
  • Application and removal of casts.
  • Application of splints and braces.
  • Review and verification of History & Physical documentation.
  • Document all clinical information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked daily.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments daily in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Process physician x-ray orders through CPOE in the EHR and notify X-ray Technician as needed.
  • Assist surgical patients with consent forms and medical clearance documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, coworkers, outside vendors, and ancillary providers.
  • Monitor and order clinical supplies in a timely manner.
  • Scan and upload patient records into the EHR system.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant
Preferred:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience
  • Orthopedic practice experience
  • Experience with ModMed software or similar practice management systems
