Planned Parenthood Great Plains seeks a full-time Certified Medical Assistant for the Edmond Health Center. You will be part of a patient-centered care team providing high-quality sexual and reproductive health services, education, and advocacy to a diverse community.

The CMA will prepare patients for visits, document histories, and assist providers during examinations while adhering to clinic protocols and quality standards. Fluency in Spanish is a plus; weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate of a CMA training program with certification (AAMA/ARMA).
  • 1–3 years in healthcare, customer service, or medical office; OB/GYN or family planning preferred.
  • Experience using electronic medical records systems; Epic experience preferred.
  • Experience operating autoclave and centrifuge; blood pressure equipment usage.
  • Bilingual Spanish helpful; ability to work Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for visits; escorts to exam room and provides gowns and drapes.
  • Obtains medical history, vital signs, medications and allergies; records results.
  • Assists clinicians during exams; prepares lab specimens; conducts basic on-site tests.
  • Provides contraceptive supplies and medications, including injectables; venipuncture; manages emergencies under supervision.
  • Works with care team to meet productivity standards; adheres to policies and clinic procedures.

Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) seeks a full-time Certified Medical Assistant for our Edmond Health Center for this 21st century health care provider and advocacy organization dedicated to upholding the standard for providing high quality sexual and reproductive health care, providing education that promotes informed proud and authentic sexuality, and changing the culture through proactive advocacy to ensure equality in reproductive and sexual decision making.

The CMA will participate in a team approach to patient care and communicate effectively and sensitively with patients from a wide range of backgrounds and ages while serving as a patient advocate.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examination room; provides examination gowns and drapes; helps them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranges examination room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment, and reviews medications and allergies. Completes electronic health records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
  • Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; prepares laboratory specimens; performs basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposes of contaminated supplies; sterilizes medical instruments; and performs other procedures as requested.
  • Providing contraceptive supplies, medications including injectable, performing venipuncture’s and managing patients with medical emergencies per Planned Parenthood Great Plains protocols under direct supervision of a licensed nurse practitioner, physician or registered nurse.
  • Working with health care team to meet established productivity standards
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of company policies and procedures and applying these to patient and clinic services
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of a training program for Medical Assistants with certification by AAMA or ARMA (CMA)
  • 1-3 year’s work experience in health care, customer service, or medical office required, OB/GYN or family planning preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems required; prior working knowledge of Epic system preferred.
  • Experience operating autoclave, centrifuge and blood pressure equipment.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Ability to work some Saturdays

$21.23 - $21.23 an hour

37.5 hour work week
