Job summary

UnityPoint Health Pediatrics in Cedar Falls, IA is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Days, Monday-Friday schedule in a full-time capacity. This role supports providers with patient rooming, exams and minor procedures, and includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

A current Iowa CMA certification is required; EPIC experience is a plus and outpatient clinic background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid and current certification in the state of Iowa for Medical Assisting.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - accredited program with certification.
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC a plus!

Responsibilities

• Assist providers and clinical staff with patient rooming, exams, treatments, and minor procedures.
• Obtain patient history and review of systems; measure and document vital signs and screenings.
• Accurately document all care in the EMR using standardized workflows.
• Perform specimen collection, including blood draws, and prepare samples for lab analysis as needed.
• Carry out provider orders within scope of licensure, including administering medications and vaccinations.
• Manage results, patient follow-ups, and tracking systems to support ongoing care.
• Schedule referrals and complete required forms, requisitions, and appropriate CPT/ICD-10 coding.
• Provide patient and family education as directed by the provider.
• Interpret lab and procedure results within scope and take appropriate next steps.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
• Participate in team communications and meetings; demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong customer service.
