Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join outpatient care teams. You will support physicians, nurses, and staff by preparing patients, performing basic lab tests, and maintaining records. The CMA Ladder Program offers pathways to advance to CMA level II or higher.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient interaction, adaptability to emergencies, and collaboration across disciplines within a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by AAMA or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by NHA required.
• If certified by another agency, CMA or NHA certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
• Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures to prepare patients for treatment or research protocol.
• Assist physician and healthcare team with completion of treatment/protocol.
• Perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to policy.
• Respond to the needs of patients from newborn to geriatric; perform clerical/lab duties as needed.
