Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Physician Practice - Primary department in Bel Air, MD. The role focuses on clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory setting under physician supervision, including venipuncture, vital signs, and patient education.

The ideal candidate has up to six months of ambulatory care experience and excellent customer service. Performs tasks across multiple clinical areas and may float to other sites within the MedStar system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required and Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year 6 months experience in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required; externship strongly preferred.
• Cardiology offices: 6 months in ambulatory care or related degree may substitute; Bachelor's in related field acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers with patient preparation for examination and minor procedures; supports patient flow and clerical tasks.
• Screens patients for preventative care needs and coordinates referrals and tests.
• Documents activities in EMR and conducts follow-up on tests and treatments.
• Provides telephone screening and patient education; participates in team huddles and safety initiatives.
• Floats to other sites as needed and attends training on safety and compliance.
