Job summary

Novant Health in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a medical assistant to support providers in delivering patient care. You will take vital signs, assist during exams, prepare rooms, and help coordinate patient forms such as FMLA, contributing to safe and compassionate care.

Responsibilities include ensuring efficient, high-quality care, collaborating with clinicians, and engaging with patients and families. Candidates must be certified or eligible for CMA/CCMA/RMA and hold a high school diploma.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
  • State Driver's License (Palliative Care Only) required.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
  • Previous work in a medical office, preferred.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or GED, required.
    • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of hire and sign an education agreement, required.
  • Experience:
    • Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
    • Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
