Job summary

Novant Health in Mount Airy, NC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support providers in delivering care. You will take vitals, prepare exam rooms, assist in procedures, and help patients with forms such as FMLA while ensuring safety and quality care.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, CMA/CCMA/RMA certification or ability to obtain within 6 months, and prior medical office experience. Drivers license required for palliative care duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Current CMA/CCMA/RMA certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire is required.
• State Driver's License (Palliative Care) required.
• Experience in a medical office is preferred.
• Ability to complete skill validations and competency testing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist providers in delivering healthcare services.
• Assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Take vital signs and obtain medical histories.
• Assist with patient forms such as FMLA and other documents.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for treatment.
• Contribute to safe, high-quality, cost-efficient patient care.
• Engage with the team and community to improve patient care.
• Work with pediatric patients in a large clinic.
• Support a brand-new provider joining the team.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate and assist providers in delivering healthcare services.

• Prepare patients and exam rooms for treatment
• Ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective care for patients.
• Engage in teamwork and community involvement to enhance patient care.
• Work with PEDS patients in a large clinic
• This is a brand new provider that this CMA will be working with

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including:
  • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA)
  • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • American Allied Health (AAH)
  • RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
• Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
• Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
