Job summary

Forefront Dermatology in Virginia is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. The CMA will accompany the dermatologist during patient visits, document vital information, and promote a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and physicians.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of recent medical office experience, current state certifications/licenses, and willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Post high school education in a medical support field.
• Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is strongly preferred.
• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office preferred.
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documenting all vital information.
• Scribing information for the dermatologist.
• Providing post op wound care to patients.
• Drawing blood and suture removal.
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms.
• Scheduling patient appointments.
• Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as biopsies, excisions, I&D, Mohs, phototherapy, injections, and other derm procedures.

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information


• Scribing information for the dermatologist


• Providing post op wound care to patients


• Drawing blood and suture removal


• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms


• Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs


• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave


• Excisions


• Electrodessication and curettage


• I&D


• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery


• Phototherapy


• Injections


• Koh preps


• Trichograms


• Tzank preps


• Dermabrasion


• Patch testing


• Blue light

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Post High School education in a medical support field:

Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred


• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment


• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed


• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems


• Must possess organizational and communication skills


• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors


• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
