Forefront Dermatology in Virginia seeks a Medical Assistant to support dermatologists during patient visits and ensure a friendly, efficient environment for patients and staff.

The role involves rooming patients, documenting vitals, assisting with derm procedures, labs, and post-op care. CMA/LPN/RN background and strong computer skills are valued; travel between clinics is required. We offer competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: CMA, LPN, or RN.
• Must maintain current state certifications/licenses/registrations.
• Willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documenting vital information.
• Scribing for the dermatologist and assisting with procedures.
• Providing post-op wound care to patients.
• Drawing blood and performing suture removal.
• Cleaning and stocking exam rooms; scheduling appointments.
• Assisting with procedures: biopsies, shaving/excisions, Mohs, phototherapy, injections, and related prep.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave
• Excisions
• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
