Pride Health is hiring a skilled certified medical assistant (CMA) to support our client at the San Marcos, TX medical facility. This is a 13-week contract with the possibility of extension, providing a great opportunity to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization.

Responsibilities include:

1. Perform duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant’s practice.
2. Operate diagnostic equipment (without interpreting tests), remove staples from superficial wounds, change wound dressings, obtain cultures, administer non-intravenous medication, perform simple specimen collection via noninvasive techniques, collect blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary, and perform EKGs.
3. Perform quality control checks on equipment and prepare/sterilize medical equipment using the autoclave.
4. Room patients according to policy and procedures and prepare them for examination.
5. Record patient care documentation accurately and promptly.
6. Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies.
7. Respect patient confidentiality and treat patients courteously and respectfully.
8. Organize exam and treatment rooms, stock and clean rooms, and sterilize instruments.
9. Practice standard infection control precautions.
10. Conduct telephone and in-person screening to gather information without exercising clinical judgment.

Must-have Skills/Qualifications/Education/Work Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience as a medical assistant.
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification.
• Maintain current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• High school diploma.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience with ICD-9 and CPT coding.

Additional Information:

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shifts: Monday-Friday, Day Shift

Hourly Pay: $21 - $23/hour
