Job summary

Sportsmedsa is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic sports medicine team. The role involves patient triage, assisting physicians, and handling clinical and administrative tasks across multiple clinics.

Ideal candidates have an accredited MA program background with MA certification. BLS is preferred. Travel between clinics is required; health, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patient triage, history taking and vital signs before examinations.
  • Assist physicians with in-office procedures and physicals.
  • Complete administrative paperwork and handle patient calls/voicemails.
  • Provide direct patient care and maintain exam rooms and supplies.
  • Update and file medical records in electronic system.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and universal precautions; communicate compassion.
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections and simple dressing changes as needed.

Job description

Orthopedic sports medicine physician practice looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Certified Medical Assistant.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Patient triage e.g prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking patient history and vital signs.
  • Assisting physicians with minor in office procedures and physicals.
  • Administrative paperwork completion, answer and return patient telephone calls (e.g voicemails, FMLA forms etc.).
  • Working with direct patient care.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Update and file medical records via electronic record keeping.
  • Communicates effectively and demonstrates a caring attitude towards patient and family.
  • Follows universal precautions, OSHA standards and HIPPA regulations.
  • Performs phlebotomy, injections IM, removes sutures/staples, simple dressing changes and reports any pertinent information to physician.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program (required)
  • Medical Assistance Certification (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (preferred)

Medical Assistants who have recently graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting program will be required to obtain a clinical MA certification within 60 days of employment.

EXPERIENCE: 1+ years of experience in office, clerical, or medical work; medical assistant, admissions rep, or clinic support (preferred), or customer service

ABILITIES: Must demonstrate strong leadership and effective communication skills. Excellent planning, organization and managements skills. Ability to multi-task, works in a fast-paced work environment, and demonstrates team cooperation.

Job Type: Full-time - Monday through Friday with a few rotating Saturday mornings. Traveling involved from one clinic to another based on physician schedule. Dependable transportation required.
