Overview

Join to apply for the Certified Medical Assistant role at Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio - SMASA.

Orthopedic sports medicine physician practice looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Patient triage: prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking patient history and vital signs.


• Assist physicians with minor in-office procedures and physicals.


• Complete administrative paperwork and answer/return patient telephone calls (e.g., voicemails, FMLA forms).


• Provide direct patient care.


• Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies; maintain instruments and prepare sterilization as required.


• Update and file medical records via electronic records keeping.


• Communicate effectively and demonstrate a caring attitude towards patient and family.


• Follow universal precautions, OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.


• Perform phlebotomy, injections (IM), remove sutures/staples, perform simple dressing changes, and report pertinent information to physician.

Education and Certification

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program (required)


• Medical Assistant Certification (required)


• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (preferred)

Note: MA graduates must obtain a clinical MA certification within 60 days of employment.

Experience

1+ years of experience in office, clerical, or medical settings; experience as a medical assistant, admissions representative, clinic support, or customer service is preferred.

Job Details

Job Type: Full-time. Monday through Friday with a few rotating Saturday mornings. Travel between clinic locations based on physician schedule. Dependable transportation required.
