Orthopedic sports medicine physician practice looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Patient triage: prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking patient history and vital signs.
- Assist physicians with minor in-office procedures and physicals.
- Complete administrative paperwork and answer/return patient telephone calls (e.g., voicemails, FMLA forms).
- Provide direct patient care.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies; maintain instruments and prepare sterilization as required.
- Update and file medical records via electronic records keeping.
- Communicate effectively and demonstrate a caring attitude towards patient and family.
- Follow universal precautions, OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform phlebotomy, injections (IM), remove sutures/staples, perform simple dressing changes, and report pertinent information to physician.
Education and Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program (required)
- Medical Assistant Certification (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (preferred)
Note: MA graduates must obtain a clinical MA certification within 60 days of employment.
Experience
1+ years of experience in office, clerical, or medical settings; experience as a medical assistant, admissions representative, clinic support, or customer service is preferred.
Abilities
Must demonstrate strong leadership and effective communication skills. Excellent planning, organization and management skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work well in a team.
Job Details
Job Type: Full-time. Monday through Friday with a few rotating Saturday mornings. Travel between clinic locations based on physician schedule. Dependable transportation required.
