Job summary

Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, NH seeks a Medical Assistant for our General Surgery team. You will review charts, prepare exam rooms, obtain vitals, and enter medical history and medications into the EMR.

Assist physicians with procedures, label specimens, and process referrals to appropriate physicians. Ideal candidates are high school graduates with medical experience, or certified Medical Assistants, with typing and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with medical experience.
• Current Medical Assistant certification from a nationally recognized organization, or 1 year of medical office experience.
• Typing and computer skills; MA certification must be obtained within 3 months if not currently certified.
• Experience with EMR systems, preferably Meditech.

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare patient charts for completeness and labs.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist the physician with procedures.
• Record patient history, medications, and vital signs in the EMR.
• Label specimens, process referrals, and manage follow-up calls.
• Support clerical tasks including scheduling and phone duties.

We are passionately committed to providing exceptional, local care to our friends, families, neighbors, and communities at large.*Mission*: To work together to serve the needs of our patients and community.*Vision*: A community where all can achieve optimal health.*Values*: Kindness, Collaboration, Patient & Family-Centered, Safety, Excellence, Efficiency, and Professionalism.**What You’ll Do:*** Review and prepare patient chart for completeness of clinical information for the appointment, ensuring appropriate diagnostic study/lab results for the exam are in the chart* Prepare exam rooms as appropriate for each patient visit, and clean exam rooms between each patient encounter* Accompany patient to exam room, obtain vital signs, and review and enter patient information, including medical history and medications list, into the EMR* Assist the physician with minor office procedures and examinations* At the completion of the visit, label and prepare laboratory specimens for transport, and complete referral letters to appropriate physicians* During the course of the day, screen add-on patients, return patient phone calls regarding care and instructions, maintain medical supplies in exam rooms and supply closets, screen and process incoming calls for prescription renewal, verifying that all information is complete and accurate prior to tasking to physician for review* Administer immunizations and/or medications as directed by the physician or advanced practitioner and document in the EMR* Perform CLIA waived in office testing and document results in the EMR* Perform ECGs as directed by practitioner* Fill vacancies at other Speare physician offices (both clinical and clerical) as requested.
