Job summary

Speare Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for our Plymouth General Surgery practice. You will review charts, prepare exam rooms, and accompany patients to visits, capturing medical history and medications in the EMR.

You’ll support physicians with minor procedures and prepare specimens and referrals. Key responsibilities include immunizations, in-office testing, ECGs, and clerical duties.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate with medical experience
  • A current Medical Assistant certification from a nationally recognized accrediting organization or at least a minimum of 1 year of experience as a medical assistant in a medical office
  • Certification must be obtained within 3 months of employment if not currently certified
  • Typing and computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare patient chart for completeness of clinical information for the appointment
  • Prepare exam rooms for patient visits and clean between encounters
  • Accompany patient to exam room, obtain vital signs, and review medical history and medications in the EMR
  • Assist physician with minor office procedures and examinations
  • Label and prepare laboratory specimens and complete referral letters
  • Screen add-on patients and manage prescription renewals in the EMR
  • Administer immunizations and/or medications as directed and document in the EMR
  • Perform CLIA waived in-office testing and document results
  • Perform ECGs as directed
  • Handle clerical tasks such as answering phones, registrations, scanning, and filing
