Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Rheumatology clinic in Destin, FL. This full-time, day-shift role supports clinicians by performing clinical and clerical duties, preparing examination rooms, and documenting patient encounters.

Responsibilities include measuring vitals, interviewing patients, transcribing orders, and maintaining supplies while ensuring a clean, organized environment.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 1 month (30 days) of hire date.
• Medical Assistant credential required prior to hire date.
• Licensure relevant to the state in which work is performed.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.




• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.




• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.




• Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.




• May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):




• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.




• Medical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
