Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Pediatric Otolaryngology department at St. Vincent Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN.

Role entails assisting providers with patient exams, vital signs, and ordered treatments under supervision, while maintaining room readiness and accurate documentation. Qualifications include BLS within 30 days, MA CMA options within 90 days, and a high school diploma or equivalent (or related experience).

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire (AHA or ARC accepted).
• MA specialization or CMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Licensure/certification can substitute education or experience where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Support: assist providers with patient examinations and measure vital signs under supervision.
• Clinical & Administrative Flow: prepare treatment rooms, maintain a clean environment, stocked supplies, and basic materials ordering.
• Accurate Documentation: interview patients for medical history, chart information, transcribe orders for labs, radiology and meds.
• Front-Office Management: handle clerical duties, answer calls, organize patient records to support smooth flow.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Direct Patient Support: Assist providers with patient examinations, measure vital signs, and execute ordered treatments and procedures under supervision.
• Clinical & Administrative Flow: Prepare treatment rooms, maintain a clean environment, and manage basic materials ordering and stocking to ensure operational efficiency.
• Accurate Documentation: Interview patients for medical history, accurately chart all information, and precisely transcribe provider orders for lab tests, radiology, and medications.
• Front-Office Management: Handle critical clerical duties, including answering calls and maintaining organized patient records to support a seamless practice flow.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
• Medical Assistant specializing in Registered obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Certified Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
