Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Vascular Interventional Radiology and Vein Solutions team in Indianapolis, IN. This full-time, dayshift position supports providers with front and back office duties, patient interviewing, vitals, and room preparation.

You will perform basic clerical tasks, materials management, and documentation under supervision, contributing to safe, efficient patient care in a dedicated vein practice.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
  • BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire date.
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration within 3 months (90 days) of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or RN.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on charts; prepare treatment rooms.
  • Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Perform basic materials management functions including ordering and stocking supplies; maintain a clean environment.
  • Document provider encounters and transcribe orders including labs, radiology, and medications.

How you'll make an impact in this role
  • Assist with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • May document the provider's encounter with patients. List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribe patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Certified or Registered both accepted.
Education
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
    • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
What Additional Preferences We're Seeking

Ability to multitask with a high level of professionalism. Position will include rotating through both front and back office so insurance experience is helpful. Position is in a dedicated vein practice that serves both medical and cosmetic health issues.
