Job summary

Pandya Medical Center - Cumming, GA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support Providers in delivering high-quality patient care. You will perform clinical and administrative duties, assist during examinations, take vital signs, and ensure accurate documentation in the medical record.

You will maintain exam rooms, handle patient communications, review reports, and help with safety checks and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records systems.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in a medical office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and document vital signs (weight, BP, pulse, temp).
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed.
  • Review, file and ensure documents are available in the patient record.
  • Maintain exam rooms with supplies and sterilization procedures.
  • Manage incoming calls and accurate message taking.
  • Triage and route messages to Providers promptly.
  • Perform routine safety checks and clinical log maintenance.
  • Comply with clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Clinical Lead/Office Manager.

Job description

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant supports Providers in delivering high-quality patient care by performing clinical and administrative duties under supervision. This role ensures efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a well-maintained clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, conduct patient intake interviews, and accurately measure and document vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature in the medical record.

  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the Provider.

  • Ensure all relevant reports, laboratory results, and documentation are reviewed, filed, and available in the patient’s medical record prior to appointments.

  • Maintain exam rooms by stocking necessary medical supplies, preparing instruments, and ensuring proper sterilization procedures are followed.

  • Manage incoming telephone calls by taking accurate messages and responding appropriately to patients, physicians, and pharmacies within scope of practice.

  • Triage and route messages from patients and front office staff to Providers in a timely manner.

  • Maintain required clinical logs and perform routine safety checks, including refrigerator temperature logs, emergency medication checks, expired medication monitoring, oxygen tank checks, and sterilization fluid changes.

  • Comply with all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Lead and/or Office Manager.

Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records systems

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

  • Current Medical Assistant certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Minimum of one (2) years of clinical experience in a medical office.
