Job summary

Dermio Dermatology LLC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team for three 12-hour shifts weekly. You will support four locations—Crown Point, Dyer, Munster, and Valparaiso—flexibly covering needs across sites.

You will assist providers, document encounters in the EHR, and help with procedures under supervision. The role calls for post-secondary medical support education with CMA preferred, 1+ year clinical experience, and strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Welcome and prepare patients, including vitals and health information.
• Scribe for dermatologist, entering visit details into EHR.
• Explain and obtain consent for procedures and take clinical photos as directed.
• Assist with in-office procedures (biopsies, excisions, I&D, Mohs, injections, patch testing).
• Provide wound care instructions and post-procedure support.
• Maintain biopsy/lab logs and schedule follow-ups.
• Guide patients in EHR portal setup and usage.
• Keep exam rooms stocked, sterilize instruments, keep area organized.
• Perform other clinical or administrative duties as needed.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team for three 12-hour shifts each week. While this position may have a primary office location, Medical Assistants are expected to provide coverage at any of our four locations—Munster, Dyer, Crown Point, and Valparaiso as staffing and operational needs require. Flexibility to work across locations is an important expectation of this role.This position plays a critical part in ensuring efficient, patient-centered visits by assisting providers, documenting clinical encounters, and preparing for and supporting procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Welcome and prepare patients for their visit, including gathering vital signs and relevant health information.
• Serve as a scribe for the dermatologist or dermatology provider, accurately entering details of the visit into the electronic health record (EHR).
• Explain and obtain informed consent for procedures, and take clinical photographs as directed.
• Assist with a variety of in-office procedures under supervision, such as biopsies (punch and shave), excisions, I&D, Mohs micrographic surgery, injections, and patch testing.
• Provide thorough wound care instructions and post-procedure support to patients.
• Maintain logs for biopsies and lab tests, and ensure accurate scheduling of follow-up visits.
• Guide patients through EHR portal setup and usage.
• Keep exam rooms stocked, sterilize instruments, and ensure a clean, organized environment.
• Perform other clinical or administrative duties as assigned to support smooth office operations.

Requirements

• Completion of post-secondary education in a medical support field (Certified Medical Assistant preferred).
• At least one year of recent experience in a clinical setting; dermatology experience is a plus.
• Current certifications, licenses, and registrations must be maintained throughout employment.
• Willingness to work at multiple practice locations (Crown Point, Dyer, Munster, and occasionally Valparaiso).
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional conduct.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to position patients, give injections, draw blood, and handle specimens according to safety standards.
• Safely transport medical equipment between rooms.
• Stock and prepare rooms for patient care.
• Operate office equipment and communicate effectively in person and by phone in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
