Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for the Heart & Vascular Institute - Steele Creek in Charlotte, NC. The role supports providers, delivers high-quality patient care, and ensures efficient clinic operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Schedule is 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a focus on vitals, EKGs, and patient education. Certification within 6 months is required if not already current.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certification from CMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), RMA (AMT), NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP, or ARMA; if not certified, must obtain within 6 months.
• Proof of certification from the listed registries as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for cardiac and vascular appointments by obtaining vitals, performing EKGs, and updating medical histories
• Clinical support and testing
• Keep patients informed about their visit, testing processes, and next steps for care

What We're Looking For

• Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including:
  • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA)
  • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement, required.
• Experience:
  • Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
  • Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
• Additional Skills (required):
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
