Job summary

Texas Health Physicians Group in Allen, TX, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant for the Family Care 18157 team. The role involves direct patient care under a health care provider, vital signs, medication administration, and lab prep, with some front-office duties. Requires CMA certification, H.S. diploma, and THPG CT program completion within 90 days.

Full-time schedule: Mon-Thurs 8:00–5:00, Fri 8:00–2:00, with competitive benefits and a sign-on bonus for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year MA experience preferred; THPG CT program completion required within 90 days.
  • CMA certification required; ACLS preferred or BCLS required per policy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care under provider supervision
  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care visit
  • Measure and record vital signs and routine metrics
  • Administer medications and vaccines as ordered
  • Draw blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis
  • Schedule diagnostic tests and follow up on results
  • Document care plans and test results in the medical record
  • Communicate test results and care plans to patients
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain exam rooms
  • Escalate non-routine issues to management or providers
  • Ensure safety checks and patient privacy protections
  • Assist in front office duties as needed

Here’s What You Need
Education
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Experience
  • One year of Medical Assistant experience (Preferred)
  • Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training (CT) educational program with demonstrated competency in required skills-within 90 days of job entry (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
  • CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (Required) And
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Preferred) Or
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support Exception Quarterly 90 Days (Required)
What You Will Do

Under the direction of the health care provider, is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well being of all patients. Accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as: measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse and respiration and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols.

  • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKG's.
  • Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing.
  • Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the provider.
  • Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol. Keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
  • Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
  • May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
