Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant Float to support multiple Family Medicine providers across our network in Texas. This role requires CMA certification, at least 1 year MA experience, and BCLS certification, with opportunities to work across clinics and learn different aspects of care.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (REQUIRED)
  • 1 year Medical Assistant experience within the last three years (REQUIRED)
  • Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training (CT) program with demonstrated competency within 90 days (REQUIRED)
  • CMA - Certified Medical Assistant upon hire (REQUIRED)
  • No New CMAs; experience is a MUST!
  • NCT - Non-certified Radiologic Technician training may be required upon hire (PREFERRED)
  • Phlebotomy experience (STRONGLY PREFERRED)
  • BCLS upon hire (REQUIRED)

Responsibilities

  • Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtains and records vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, allergies, medications and presenting problem.
  • Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via various routes.
  • May work in the front office as needed, and perform other duties as assigned by practice manager or health care providers.

Work hours:

Full Time (40 Hour) Day Shift; Monday - Friday (8am-5pm)

Here’s What You Need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (REQUIRED)
  • 1 year Medical Assistant experience within the last three years (REQUIRED)
  • Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training (CT) educational program with demonstrated competency in required skills - within 90 days of job entry (REQUIRED)
  • CMA - Certified Medical Assistant upon hire (REQUIRED)
  • No New CMAs; experience is a MUST!

Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood, and administer injections as needed by assigned clinic
  • Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients
  • Demonstrated knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations
What You Will Do
  • Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
  • May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
