Job summary

Responsibilities include preparing medications, taking vital signs when needed, and reporting any adverse reactions to the licensed nurse. Must have CNA credentials and a state-approved medication administration program.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a state-approved school of medication administration.
• Must carry current acknowledgement card or state-issued certification.
• Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Responsibilities

• Administer PRN medications under licensed nurse direction.
• Organize medication duties: pour, pass, and document routine meds.
• Document PRNs according to State Standards.
• Observe and report medication reactions or side effects to the licensed nurse.
• Take and record vital signs before meds that affect vitals.
• Prepare and document medications you administer.
• Count narcotics as directed and document activity.
• Notify nurse on duty in emergencies and document actions.
