Job summary

BGF Industries in Altavista, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Certified Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment in a major producing unit.

The role requires diagnosing complex mechanical problems, performing preventive maintenance on powered materials handling equipment, keeping repair records, and coordinating with the Supervisor to meet production needs while adhering to safety and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED and an industrial mechanical certificate or equivalent.
Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform preventive maintenance.
Weekend work may be required when demand necessitates.

Responsibilities

Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, modify and maintain all mechanical equipment.
Diagnose complex mechanical problems.
Perform preventive maintenance on powered materials handling equipment.
Maintain repair records and schedule battery washing and maintenance.
Operate boilers, air compressors, and refrigeration equipment.
Assemble and fabricate parts for modifications of equipment.
Follow safety, lockout/tagout, and environmental procedures.
