Job summary

New York City Department of Design and Construction is seeking a Certified Network Administrator (LAN/WAN) to design, secure, and manage the agency's network infrastructure at 30-30 Thomson Ave, LIC. The role requires strong AD, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and security expertise with proactive threat mitigation.

The ideal candidate will lead IT projects, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with agency policies while providing after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• Two years of LAN/WAN planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and security management.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, SAN/NAS, and wireless access points.
• Monitor network performance and perform regular maintenance and firmware updates to ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot outages and connectivity issues promptly.
• Maintain active knowledge of AD, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VM systems, backups, and deployment tools.
• Implement and enforce network security policies, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation to harden the perimeter.
• Support SSO and MFA across agency platforms.
• Monitor security logs and lead incident response when needed.
• Develop automation for admin tasks using PowerShell or similar tools.
• Coordinate changes/upgrades with internal teams and vendors.
• Lead projects including office setups, hardware refreshes, and cloud implementations.
• Maintain documentation of network architecture, configurations, and security protocols.
• Ensure compliance with IT policies and governance requirements.
