Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Hospital Lab Technician to collect specimens, prepare them for analysis, and maintain accurate records for inpatient and outpatient testing across UCSF sites. You may perform phlebotomy and will label containers, provide test instructions, and handle clerical duties and specimen processing for transport to referral labs.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, California phlebotomy certification, hands-on lab experience, strong computer skills,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of laboratory experience or two years of college plus one year lab experience, or equivalent mix of education and experience.
• California phlebotomy certification (CDPH CPT 1).
• Experience performing phlebotomy on diverse patient types; ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency with PC, Windows, Word, Excel; strong communication skills.
• Flexibility to work at UCSF Medical Center locations and off-site sites.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to protocol and prepare for laboratory processing.
• Label and distribute specimen containers; provide instructions for tests.
• Perform clerical duties, computer data entry, and specimen processing for transport to referral labs.
• Maintain accurate records of drawn specimens and support Clinical Laboratory Processing as needed.
• Orient and work at multiple UCSF sites and varying schedules.
