Job Summary

This is a fully remote, PART-TIME position for candidates who reside in FL, GA, IN, LA, MS, NV, NC, OK, SC, VA, WY; video conferencing and attendance onsite are required as directed by Corporate Coding Leadership.

Abstracts and codes medical data at the Certified Hospital Coder III level. This coder’s primary responsibilities are related to all inpatient accounts as assigned. Team members receive training upon hire through the education team or other team specific onboarding plan. Supervisors monitor the progress of the team members, assisting the team member to achieve productivity and accuracy expectations. Additional training may be provided as needed. All applicants undergo assessments prior to interviews, evaluating knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding. Overtime may be required based on organizational needs.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Training provided for Certified Hospital Coder III (CHC III) candidates, regardless of experience.
• Experience: Minimum three years of inpatient coding experience or relevant certification; or no experience with RHIA or RHIT.
• Licensure/Certification: CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, RHIA, or RHIT required.
• Skills: Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, basic computer skills, independent work ability, effective communication, customer service, and capacity to work overtime and travel as needed. Physical demands include visual acuity and manual dexterity.
