Job summary

YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to design and teach safe, high-quality group exercise classes tailored to each class format. You will plan choreography, adjust routines, and ensure engaging, fun sessions for participants of all ages.

The role requires delivering clear cues, maintaining safety, and building positive rapport with participants and, when applicable, parents. Certification within 90 days of hire is required if not already held.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
• Current national NCCA-accredited Group Exercise Instructor certification, or YMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification. If not certified, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• All YMCA employees are mandated reporters of child abuse or neglect.

Responsibilities

• Design and teach effective, safe and enjoyable exercise classes using proper exercise progressions and cueing techniques.
• Plan composition/choreography of each class, consistently changing music and routines relative to the class participants.
• Maintain positive rapport with participants (and parents of participants, if applicable).
