Job summary

The Aquatics Group Exercise Instructor at YMCA of Greater Cleveland designs and teaches safe, high-quality group exercise classes designed by the class format and description to strengthen the body, mind, and spirit within the community. You will create engaging plans and cue engaging sequences, ensuring safety and enjoyment for participants.

Required are a high school diploma or GED and current NCCA-accredited or YMCA group exercise certification, with certification obtainable within 90 days of

• Current national NCCA-accredited Group Exercise Instructor certification, or YMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification. If not currently certified, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• All YMCA employees are mandated reporters of child abuse or neglect.

The Aquatics Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for the design and instruction of safe, high-quality, effective, challenging, and fun group exercise classes as determined by the class format and description.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and teach effective, safe and enjoyable exercise classes using proper exercise progressions and cueing techniques.
• Plan composition/choreography of each class, consistently changing music and routines relative to the class participants.
• Maintain positive rapport with participants (and parents of participants, if applicable).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
• Current national NCCA-accreditedGroup Exercise Instructor certification, or YMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification.If not currently certified, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
