Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Group Fitness Instructor to lead engaging group exercise sessions and motivate members to live healthier lives. You will prepare routines and ensure high standards of safety and service across YMCA programs.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification required.
• Certification in Floor and Chair Yoga preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness.
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards.
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles.
• Ensure safety and well-being of members and staff; notify supervisor of hazards.
• Deliver excellent member service and communicate needs to supervisor.
• Ensure proper movement techniques and maintain safety procedures.

What is needed for this job as our Group Fitness Instructor:

• 18+ years of age and high school diploma or equivalent
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification (1)
• Certification in Floor and Chair Yoga
• Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Group Fitness Instructor:

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles
• Ensure the safety and well-being of members and staff. Notify supervisor of any safety hazards or concerns within the facility
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs, supplies or other items needed to ensure program quality and member satisfaction
• Ensure that safe movement and technique is utilized by every member in all classes
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and maintain records on any incidents
