Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ is seeking a Certified First Assistant (First Assist) to join our Perioperative Services team on a PRN basis. You will provide direct surgeon assistance, position patients for optimal exposure, and help with visualization, hemostasis, and wound management.

Located in the Sierra Vista community, our 106-bed acute care hospital supports orthopedics, general surgery, urology, gynecology and more.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a First Assist program.
• CSFA credential and BLS certification are preferred or required as listed.
• Associates degree is preferred for the role.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct assistance to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures.
• Positions patient to give best exposure for the procedure using stabilizing equipment when necessary, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using tissue manipulation, retraction, suctioning and irrigation.
• Utilizes technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assists with body plane closure, wound dressings, and securing drainage systems.
