Job summary

Dixon Social Interactive Services, Inc. is seeking a Qualified Professional-Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor (CADC preferred) to provide individual and group counseling, develop treatment plans, and coordinate care for clients with MH/DD/SA needs.

The role emphasizes adherence to regulations, accurate documentation, and client-centered planning. The position offers both part-time and full-time schedules with 10- and 8-hour shifts, day and night shifts, in Goldsboro, NC, with hourly pay ranging

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write English; generate clinical documentation.
  • Addiction counseling experience required: 2 years.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a human services field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop treatment plans and goals for members on assigned caseload.
  • Document service notes reflecting services provided.
  • Provide individual counseling and case management sessions.
  • Facilitate group counseling and educational sessions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support.
  • Ensure documentation is completed timely and accurately.

Qualified Professional-Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)

A Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (formerly CSAC) serves as leaders and supporters that impart knowledge and help those who struggle with addiction build a specific plan to overcome dependency based on individual needs. The CADC will use the Twelve Core Functions which includes screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, report and record keeping, consultation with other professionals regarding client treatment and services, and referral to treat addictive disorder or disease and help prevent relapse.

  • Develop treatment plans and goals for the members on assigned caseload.
  • Document service notes that reflect SACOT/SAIOP clinical services are provided appropriately to the goals in the PCP; keep and maintain detailed treatment and progress notes.
  • Ensure compliance with Policy and Procedures regarding member safety and member rights.
  • Provide one on one counseling and case management sessions.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate group counseling and educational sessions, under supervision.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to members, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate an attitude of acceptance of diversity with staff and members.
  • Ensure all documentation regarding member care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in clear, concise manner.
  • Responsible oversight of caseload regarding continuity of service, appropriate use of referrals, maintenance of authorization, collaboration with others on client’s behalf, and other clinically and ethically significant practices.
  • Participation in weekly staffing meetings and supervision meetings.
  • May provide case management duties for members, ensuring individualized quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
"Qualified professional"within the MH/DD/SA system of care:

(a) an individual who holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience in MH/DD/SA with the population served; or

(b) a graduate of a college or university with a master’s degree in a human service field and has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has one year of full-time, postgraduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or

c) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a human service field and has two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full-time, post bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or

(d) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field other than human services and has four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.

Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) ***Preferred***
  • Credentialed by the NC Addiction Specialist Professional Practice Board; or Registered to be Credentialed at minimum.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and write English. Ability to generate clinical documentation of interventions and support services rendered to patients in keeping with regulations and requirements of credentialing and auditing bodies.
