Job summary

AAA Cooper Transportation is seeking a Certified Non-CDL Dockworker to load/unload trailers, manage freight and maintain dock operations at our facility. You will follow Bills of Lading, inspect equipment, and help plan optimal loading to protect cargo.

The role requires high school diploma or equivalent, 18+, ability to pass a drug screen and background check, forklift certification eligibility, and familiarity with DOT rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 18 years or older.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Satisfactory background check; ability to be certified as forklift operator.
• Familiar with proper procedures for handling hazardous materials.
• Follow company policies and comply with federal, state and local safety regulations.
• Read, write, speak and understand English well.
• Count, add, and subtract digits up to 10,000s.
• Flexible hours.
• Able to operate a motor vehicle safely.
• Know DOT regulations that govern your assignment.
• Perform frequent actions such as squatting, bending, twisting, turning and reaching overhead.
• Enter and exit trailers many times per day with assistance.
• Lift freight up to 100 lbs and push/pull up to 500 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers and move freight at the dock.
• Load freight to/from dock and trailers per bills of lading and labels.
• Plan loading to utilize space and minimize damage.
• Hook and unhook trailers and operate landing gear.
• Inspect equipment for defects and safe operation.
• Fuel trucks, tractors and other company equipment.
• Clean and sweep dock, trailers, yard and tractors.
• Operate a Class C straight truck safely.
• Record shipments using bills of lading and tally sheets.
• Maintain professional relations with customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
