Job summary

Height Street Skilled Care in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a certified dietary manager to lead our dietary department in a skilled nursing facility. You will ensure a high quality food service operation, regulatory compliance, and strong support for residents and staff.

You will oversee all facets of the food service program, manage inventory and costs, train staff, and maintain records for administration, coordinating with residents, staff and management.

Qualifications

• CDM certification required.
• At least one year of experience as Dietary Director in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
• ServSafe certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the food service program in accordance with company policies and regulations.
• Provide leadership to ensure food quality, inventory control, food safety, and customer service.
• Maintain records of income, expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment; provide reports to the Administrator.
• Train new employees, monitor performance, and implement disciplinary actions when needed.
• Hire, schedule, evaluate, and discipline dietary staff.
• Serve as liaison between residents, staff, and management.
• Attend meetings and complete dietary assessments for residents.
• Perform duties of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher when needed for coverage.

Job Summary:

Height Street Skilled Care is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Dietary Manager to lead our dietary department in our skilled nursing facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality food service operations, regulatory compliance, and excellent support for our residents and staff. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and have a strong background in food service management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of the food service program in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations
• Provide leadership to ensure food quality, inventory control, food safety, and strong customer service
• Maintain records of income, expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment; provide reports to the Administrator
• Ensure adequate supply levels and conduct periodic inventories
• Train new employees, monitor performance, and recommend disciplinary actions when needed
• Serve as the liaison between residents, staff, administrators, and management
• Communicate directives from administrators and management to dietary staff
• Perform duties of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher when needed for training or coverage
• Conduct ongoing training, quality control checks, and in-servicing using QCIs for documentation
• Serve as a department head and maintain a professional environment
• Attend meetings and complete dietary assessments for residents
• Hire, schedule, evaluate, and discipline dietary staff

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree or higher in Food Service Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred
• Specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition preferred
• Current ServSafe certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days
• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) required
• At least one year of experience as a Dietary Director in a Skilled Nursing Facility
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Position Type: Full-Time, Salaried

Pay Rate: $33-$35 per hour, based on years of experience
