Job summary

Geisinger Community Medical Center is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer) to perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging and related procedures for patient care. The role requires ARRT or ARDMS credentials and adherence to safety standards in a clinical setting.

The ideal candidate will have specialty training, 1+ year of related experience, and the ability to educate and supervise learners while collaborating with licensed practitioners across Radiology and Maternal/Fetal

Qualifications

• Graduate from Specialty Training Program (Required).
• Certification by ARRT as a sonographer or ARDMS/CCI credentials (required upon hire).
• Vascular credential may be required within 1 year of hire, site dependent.
• Maternal Fetal Medicine: ARDMS (OB/GYN) required upon hire.
• Pediatric/Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS credentials required within 6 months.
• ARDMS/RVT or RVS credential required for vascular work upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Administer ultrasound imaging procedures and collect data for diagnosis.
• Identify and prepare patient and exam, verify clinical history and confidentiality.
• Apply ALARA principles to optimize safety and imaging quality.
• Prepare and administer medications via vascular access when prescribed.
• Evaluate images for proper positioning and quality; ensure data archived or transferred.
• Educate and supervise students and health care staff as needed.
• Collaborate with licensed practitioners during interventional procedures.
• Maintain equipment parameters and performance for diagnostic and interventional exams.
• Review symptoms and medical history to select correct exams.
• Assess orders to schedule patient exams accurately.
• Perform noninvasive vascular tests when applicable.
• Provide preliminary interpretation of results where authorized.
